Bourg d’Oisans (altitude 720m) is a market town with the local market being held every Saturday throughout the year. It is located in a valley of the Oisans region of the French Alps on the outskirts of the Ecrins national park.

Bourg d’Oisans is the perfect base for road cycling as there are many world class cycling routes within a day’s ride of the town like Alpe d'Huez, Col du Galibier, Col du Telegraphe, Col du Lautaret, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Glandon and the lacet Montvernier to name a few. Due to this amazing cycling location the Tour de France and the Criterium Dauphine passes through or very close to the area on so many occasions. Annually there are a few major amateur cycling events that start from Bourg d’Oisans namely the Marmotte Granfondo Alps and the Haute route. During these events the small town with a population of around 2,000 residents is taken over by cyclists of all nationalities so it pays to book your accommodation and transfers in advance.
